the rhyme
it's easy to deconstruct life
and patch it back together
as a series of plot points
pick apart different arcs
thematic overtones
subtext
of course it's not how life actually works
but pattern recognition sure makes it appealing
being able to break it down like that
i talked with someone recently
that told me some extra detail
behind a big event
that occurred
in my life
i told them it felt like poetry
with how much it reminded me
of developments presently taking place
arranged in a way
that felt aesthetically pleasing
it rolled off the tongue
in tandem
a particular meter
a sick nostalgia
but this time has a twist
and even this
is narratively satisfying
waking up
covered in sour smelling sweat
i think i found my biggest fear
it turns out that
it's scary when
it's not just my own fault
it's scariest
when i can't point fingers at myself
it's scary as fuck
